Well, it looks like profitability isn't everything after all.The short-sighted decision to give Jay Leno the 9pm slot (because he's so much cheaper than scripted dramas or comedies), hasn't worked out, and it looks like NBC is working on putting him back into his old slot. Affiliates didn't like it. Viewers didn't like it. Leno didn't like it.
And it looks like the executives are finally figuring out something that the rest of us figured out a long time ago: The bottom line isn't always the bottom line.
