Brian Epstein

From Bob Dearborn's The Olde Disc Jockey's Almanac this morning, another momentous day in Beatles history...

"November 9, 1961…Brian Epstein left his Liverpool record store for the Cavern Club down the street where he watched the Beatles' lunchtime show. Epstein, who was to become the group's manager, said of the performance: "I was immediately struck by their music, their beat, and their sense of humour on stage. And even afterwords, when I met them, I was struck again by their personal charm. And it was there that, really, it all started."

Just a few years later he watching them from the wings at Shea Stadium. By the way, if you check out Bob's almanac you'll see that today is also the anniversary of the day that John met Yoko.
