I'm torn on this news. The New York Times announced yesterday that they will start listing the best selling e-books.
Another name for it could be The Virtual Best Seller List, which is the reason I'm bummed out. Whenever I was asked the question: "Is your book a best seller?" My answer would always be: "Virtually."
Nebulous and delusional, yes--but now, demonstrably false.
I never even sniffed the best seller lists, but I did get another royalty check for the Radio Producer's Handbook yesterday. I can't believe people are still buying that book seven years after I wrote it. Thank you, whoever you are.
As of this morning it was the 20th best selling book about radio on amazon. (But it was also only the 556,000th best selling book overall). The highest it ever got on the best seller list was 5000. And it's not even available as an e-book. (But $everance is. The e-book cost is only $5.)
