Cumulus deal is official

It took a few weeks longer than they thought, but Cumulus has finally lined up all the financing required to purchase Citadel Broadcasting.

All Access has the update here.

It will take awhile for this news to affect the former Citadel stations, but when it does, it will be very interesting to see what happens. In Chicago Citadel owns WLS-AM and WLS-FM.

I have a feeling that WLS-FM may have more changes than the AM. Jan Jeffries, a former WLS music guy from back in their heyday, is the head of programming for Cumulus. Scott Shannon, the guy in New York who forces WLS to air many hours of his lame show now, is the head of programming for Citadel.

With Jeffries in charge, I wouldn't be surprised if we hear one of those classic WLS jocks (do you hear me Lujack, Edwards, Winston, or Landecker?) back on the air soon.

But that's just speculation on my part.

It's what I would do if I was running the place.
