I'm sure all of you remember this day in 1907. This is the day that the Cubs completed their sweep of the Detroit Tigers to win their first World Series.
Mordecai Brown threw a seven hit shutout. Harry Steinfeldt knocked in the winning run in the first inning. And all 7370 fans in Detroit knew they had witnessed something special.
Harry Steinfeldt, by the way, hit .471 in the series, and easily would have been named World Series MVP if there was such a thing. Never heard of Harry? He was the other guy in the Tinker to Evers to Chance infield. You may have even seen the above picture before. Harry is often cropped out of it, because he wasn't part of that famous poem. (That's him on the far left)
