Media Interviews from the archives

One of my regular jobs is writing about the media. I've been doing that now for over 30 years. Every now and I then I like to dip into the archives and feature a few of them.

*Today is Bill Turck's birthday. Bill is the current host of Chicago Writes: A Podcast by the Chicago Writer's Association. A few years ago I got a chance to interview Bill for Illinois Entertainer about his radio show and his very unique and interesting past. You can read that here.  Bill recently suffered a stroke and is going through a difficult period of rehab, so we send out our birthday and get well wishes to him.

*Former WGN agricultural reporter Max Armstrong is also celebrating a birthday today. I got a chance to interview Max in 2010 for Chicago Radio Spotlight. He has some great stories, which you can read here.

Eckhartz Everyday

*Today is WGN Morning News anchor Larry Potash's birthday. He had some nice words to say about the Eckhartz Press book Mob Adjacent“Normally we can experience organized crime from a safe distance, from the page or screen – for the Gentile brothers, the action was right before their childhood eyes.”

*Last year on this day, Dave and I were the Zoom stars of Cocktails and Conversation for the Chicago Writers Association. If you'd like to relive that appearance, it's still out there.

Chicago Writes

This weekend I'll be downtown at the Allerton Hotel helping preside over the Chicago Wrtiers Association writers conference known as Chicago Writes. I'll be moderating a panel discussion on Saturday with fellow producers Jeff Hoover (WGN-TV), Jason Marck (WBEZ), and Jasmine Cooper (WCIU-TV). On Sunday I'll be on a panel with fellow Chicago publishers from Amika Press and Tortoise Press. Looking forward to spending a weekend talking about and thinking about writing.

Eckhartz Everyday

*On this day in 2018, the Eckhartz Press book Out the Door was named the Book of the Year by the Chicago Writers Association. See a photo gallery here of the proud author M.L Collins and her publishers at the event. Out the Door is still available at Eckhartz Press.
