Geraldo obviously had no idea that saying he was running for the Senate was going to cause some problems for him. For instance, he probably would have to immediately give up his well paying job as a talk show host. The FCC has rules about these things. (The full story is here)

OH! Did I say I was running? No, what I meant to say is: "Despite my constitutionally protected musings on whether to seek that high office, I am taking no formal steps to initiate the electoral process, making no declarations, forming no committees, raising no money and hiring no campaign aides. Therefore, there is no FCC complication regarding equal time."
Sounds like it was written by a lawyer.
