Now that we have such a big stable of talented authors, we're going to take some time this year to re-introduce them to you. This week it's John Records Landecker. John helped put our little boutique publishing company on the map when his book Records Truly Is My Middle Name came out ten years ago. It was only the 4th one we published.
John Records Landecker
John Records Landecker was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame in 2017 after a legendary 50-year radio career. His contributions to music radio were so widely respected, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland saw fit to feature him in their radio exhibit. Landecker was born and raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and that’s where his radio career began. John has gone on to entertain radio audiences in Michigan (WOIA, WERX, WTRX, WILS), Philadelphia (WIBG), Chicago (WLS–multiple times, WLUP, G-106, WCKG, WJMK), Toronto (CFTR) and Cleveland (Power 108). When he was working at WLS in the 1970s, John was named Billboard Magazine’s Radio Personality of the year. In the 1990s, his WJMK morning show was named the best morning show in Chicago, and in the early 2000s it was recognized as the best Oldies radio show in America by Radio and Records. Landecker is the author of “Records Truly Is My Middle Name” (Eckhartz Press 2013), and has released six CDs of his work; “Landecker & The Legends” (’94), “Landecker & The Legends, Volume 2″ (’95), “Baby Boomers” (’96), “Live Long & Perspire” (’97), “Landecker & The Legends, Volume 5″ (’98), and “20th Century Hits and Bits” (’99). For the past few years John has been doing the evening shift on WGN Radio in Chicago. He lives in Indiana with his wife Nika. And yes, Records truly still is his middle name.
