According to Beatles legend, manager Brian Epstein discovered the Beatles because a Liverpool teenager came into his record shop looking for the Beatles record "My Bonnie". While researching this local band he stumbled into the Cavern Club and was immediatly smitten by the Beatles. He signed the band to a management contract, and under Epstein's tutelage, the Beatles became a worldwide sensation.
Ironically, that song he was looking for wasn't even technically a Beatles record. The Beatles were only the backup band on "My Bonnie". The lead singer was one of the stars of the Hamburg music scene: Tony Sheridan.
Sheridan passed away over the weekend. He was 72 years old.
