October 4, 1968…At EMI's Abbey Road Studios in London, Paul McCartney recorded his composition "Martha My Dear" for the Beatles' "White Album." He was the only member of the band who performed on the track. Although the song itself is mostly about his longtime girlfriend Jane Asher, the title was inspired by McCartney's Old English Sheepdog named Martha.
