You may not know his name, but Hugh Wilson was the creator of one of the great television sitcoms of all-time, WKRP in Cincinnati. He also writer/director of films like "Police Academy", "First Wives Club", "Guarding Tess" and many more.
I didn't know this until I read it in his obit in the Hollywood Reporter this morning, but Wilson came up with the idea for WKRP when he worked as a salesman at a top 40 station in Atlanta. I'm guessing he didn't base the character of Herb Tarlek on himself...
