Meet the Eckhartz Press Author: Bruce Bohrer

Now that we have such a big stable of talented authors, we're going to take some time this year to re-introduce them to you. Bruce Bohrer has written two books for us, with a third one on the way. His first book "Best Seat in the House: Diary of a Wrigley Field Usher" was a big seller, and he followed that up by co-writing "Embrace Retirement" with Russ Fahrner. The two retirement experts will release their follow up this year, "Embrace Retirement in Chicago"...

Bruce Bohrer was born and raised in the Chicago area. He earned both his bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in counseling psychology at the University of Illinois. Upon receipt of his master’s degree, he worked as a college counselor, first at Parkland College in Champaign, Illinois, and then at Harper College in suburban Chicago. After a few years as a counselor at Harper, Bruce transitioned into the admissions office and spent his last 20 years or so as director of admissions for the College.

Bruce was quite young when he retired from Harper, leaving the College in December of 2002 at the age of 51. At the time of his retirement, he had no plan for what was to come next in his life. The only thing he knew he wanted to do during retirement was to spend some of the winter in a warm climate. He has been able to do that most years since he retired, renting a home in Naples, Florida.

Bruce was there for our star-studded book signing at the Billy Goat in Chicago. (Bruce, Dave, Rick, Rich King, John Landecker, Joel Daly)
