The JOBC Contest

Time for this week's JOBC Contest.

The first person that e-mails me the correct answer at rick@justonebadcentury.com will win a commemorative Greg Maddux 3000th strikeout scorecard and a t-shirt from the Just One Bad Century catalog.

Here's the question. Exactly ten years ago today the Cubs acquired slugger Fred McGriff from the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. He was inserted into the lineup as the starting first baseman for the rest of that year, replacing a lefty-righty platoon. Name the two first basemen he replaced. HINT: One of them (the lefty) still plays in the big leagues.

UPDATE: We have a winner! Randy Evans was the first person to e-mail the correct answer. He knew that Matt Stairs and Ron Coomer were the two first basemen that Fred McGriff replaced.

Another chance to win is coming next week!
