7 Cultural Concepts We Don't Have in the US

I can speak to the German one on this list, "Gemuetlichkeit". That is a word I've been using my whole life and had no idea it wasn't really translatable into English until I tried one day. The writer of this piece describes it pretty well. You've heard the word if you've ever been in a German beer hall when the song "Ein Prosit" begins. The band plays it at least a dozen times a night, as a signal for everyone to toast and drink.

Ein Prosit,
Ein Prosit,
Der Gemuetlichkeit,
Ein Prosit,
Ein Prosit,
Der Gemuetlichkeit.
