September 23, 1977: Aja Released by Steely Dan

=Bill Schnee was the recording engineer on that album and told us what is was like working with Donald Fagen and Walter Becker.  

September 23, 1986: Matlock debuts

=Voice over actor Richard Epcar worked on the show. He even remembered his lines when we interviewed him 30+ years later.

 

September 24, 1970—Patridge Family debuts 

=Danny Bonaduce was on our show.

September 24, 1993—Boy Meets World debuts

=One of the stars of that sitcom, Maitland Ward, was on our show. You'll never guess what she's doing now. She's an adult film actress. 

September 24, 2007—Big Bang Theory debuts 

=Bridget and I were on the set...(OK, it was just part of the WB tour)

September 24, 2013—The Goldbergs debuts

=One of the stars of that sitcom, Hayley Orrantia, was a delightful interview.  

 September 24--Eric Soderholm birthday

=We talked to the former White Sox slugger in this episode. He later endorsed our book Chili Dog MVP.

September 25--Michael Douglas birthday

=One of the most memorable interviews I booked for John Landecker. We have the audio from that day. I told the story in this episode. 

September 25, 2021—Arlington Park closes forever. 

-For a few glorious summers, Dave was the wacky Quinn Ela at Arlington Park. We wrote the bits together. Here's an example...

 

September 26—George Gerschwin birthday

=We wrote a radio ad for Biasco Music starring George Gerschwin. It was an award winner.

September 26, 1965—Gilligan's Island debuts

=I wrote a parody song about our morning show to the tune of this theme song. Will we play it this week?

September 26, 1969—The Brady Bunch debuts

=We had Robbie Rist (Cousin Oliver) on the show. 

=We also had NY Times Best Selling Author William Dameron on the show. In this interview, he refers to his family as The Gaydy Bunch. 

September 26, 1969—Abbey Road released

=On the same exact day as the Brady Bunch? Does not compute. My boys and I went to street crossing of Abbey Road when we were in England.

September 26, 1975—Rocky Horror Picture Show released. 

=Fee Waybill starred in it. He told us all about it.  

 

September 27, 1992—Dr. Demento plays Ebony & Ivory song “Oktoberfest ist here”

=Don't believe me? Here's the show list for that day. 

September 27—Debi Derryberry birthday

=We interviewed the voice of Jimmy Neutron on this episode. 

September 27—Wilford Brimley birthday

=Mark Giangreco told us a story about how he once got in a trouble for making a Wilford Brimley joke.  

September 27—The Inheritance debuts on Broadway. 

=We talked to the producer of that show, Eric Nelsen. 

 

September 28, 1938—The Homer in the Gloamin

=We have the audio of Gabby Hartnett's famous homer--probably the second most famous homer in Wrigley Field history.

April 28--Jay Leno's birthday. I told my memorable Jay Leno story in this episode of Minutia Men.  

April 28--David Pollock birthday. We talked to the star of Bad News Bears about five years ago.  

April 29—Richard Epcar birthday. The voice over artist superstar was featured on this episode of Minutia Men Celebrity Interview.  

April 29—Jerry Seinfeld birthday. Our old friend Jay Shatz has a great story about meeting Jerry in the 1980s. It takes a twist you will not expect.  

April 30--Al Lewis birthday. Yes, I knew Grandpa Munster. Yes, he was a total nutball. I told the story in this episode.  

April 30--Chet Coppock birthday. The king of Chicago sports talk radio became an Eckhartz Press author, and a Minutia Men guest. 

April 30, 1945—Adolf Hitler kills himself and Eva Braun. Would you believe we have a guest who has a story to tell about that day? Antony Penrose 

May 1—National School Principal’s day. Neil Steinberg story about the principal he really upset in a column.

May 1, 1997 Carol Marin resigns from Channel 5 to protest Jerry Springer's hiring. Her co-anchor Ron Magers appears on our morning show on Oldies 104.3 (audio)  It was memorable.

May 1, 1891—Harvey, Illinois founded. Harvey's hometown boy Tom Dreesen told us a story about the danger of becoming a Cubs fan from Harvey

May 1, 1893—Cracker Jacks unveiled at Columbian Exhibition in Chicago. Harry Caray was not a fan.

May 2--Larry Potash birthday. Larry appeared on the show about six years ago.  

May 2—Franke Previte birthday. Yes, Frankie was once on the show as well.  

May 3, 2023—Last episode of The Goldbergs aired. Hayley Orrantia, who played Erica on the show, came on Minutia Men Celebrity interview shortly after the last episode aired. 

May 3, 1979--The San Diego Chicken was fired by KGB-Radio. It was just the beginning of a great career for Ted Giannoulus (San Diego Chicken), who told us all about it. 

May 3, 1971—All Things Considered debuts on NPR. One of the contributors to that show over the years was Aaron Freeman. He was one of our favorite interviewees. 

May 4, 1970--The Kent State Massacre. We talked to John Filo, the man who took the Pulitzer Prize winning photo that day.

=Lou wrote the song "Lightning Strikes" in the 60s. He also had a memorable encounter with yours truly at an Oldies show in the 90s. You can hear that story here.

 

*February 19, 1980—Survivor releases “Rebel Girl” as a single. 

=When I told the man who wrote it, Jim Peterik, how much I loved the song, he played it for me.

*February 19, 1996—Rick and Bridget 's first night away from baby Tommy

=John Landecker played a game on the air called: Rick & Bridget Hi-Low/How many times did they call to check on Tommy. I haven't played the audio of that on Minutia Men yet. Will this be the week? Hmmm. 

*February 19, 1910—Old Trafford opens 

It's the home stadium of Manchester United, a stadium discussed frequently on Free Kicks.

*February 20, 1992—Premier League founded

=This is what Free Kicks is all about.

*February 20—Louanne Stephens birthday. 

=We spoke to the star of Friday Night Lights on this episode of Minutia Men Celebrity Interview. 

*February 21—William Petersen birthday

=I told the story of my brush with the great Chicago actor on this episode of Minutia Men. 

*February 21—Amy Shiels birthday

=The star of Twin Peaks appeared on Minutia Men Celebrity interview last year.

*February 21--Ross Bennett birthday

=A very funny comedian. He shared his prostate material with us. 

*February 21--Adam Greenberg birthday

=One of the most memorable Cubs stories in Cubs history. He tells it quite dramatically.
