Study: Facebook Comments Are More Civil Than Newspaper Website Comments
The researchers surmise that because Facebook commenting is not anonymous, people pull back a little with the hateful rhetoric. If that's true, and I believe it is, I may have pruning to do on my facebook friends list. When I read my facebook feed, I see some pretty hateful rhetoric.
The only problem is that most of those people are my actual friends and acquaintances, not just my "facebook" friends. I can't quite pull the trigger on getting rid of them because I still like them personally. I just make a mental note never to talk to them about politics. Ever.
My own facebook page is a politics-free zone.
