Chicago is another market where the former all-Christmas stations tumbles and the news station shows muscle. #1 is CBS Radio’s news WBBM/WCFS (6.4-6.1-6.3, and #1 from 6am to 7pm). While last month’s champ, iHeart’s hot AC/Christmas WLIT is eighth (6.3-13.7-3.5). And compare that to WLIT’s year-ago string of 6.6-13.9-4.7). Back to the top, where second place is iHeart’s consistent urban AC WVAZ (6.2-5.9-5.8). “V103” is #1 nights and weekends. Third is Hubbard’s hot AC “Mix” WTMX 5.4-4.4-5.3, and second in mornings). Fourth is Tribune talker WGN (4.2-3.7-4.0, third in mornings). iHeart’s top 40 “Kiss 103.5” WKSC is fifth (3.9-3.5-3.7). There is one category where “Kiss” wins, though – it’s the weekly cume leader at better than 1.98 million. Back to the 6+ total-week AQH shares, where CBS Radio’s rhythmic “B96” WBBM-FM improves (3.0-3.1-3.5). It’s tied with Hubbard’s classic rock “Drive” WDRV (3.5-3.1-3.5) – and of course WLIT. The two classic hits outlets are tied for topline share – WJMK (CBS, 2.5-2.4-3.0) and WLS-FM (Cumulus, 2.6-2.3-3.0). They’re both gaining in all dayparts. Also tied, further down, are country rivals “US 99” WUSN (CBS, 2.3-1.9-2.2) and “Big” WEBG (iHeart, 2.1-1.9-2.2). US99 holds a sizable cume edge. Hubbard recently began importing Brooke & Jubal for wakeups on AC WSHE. The station is twelfth overall, while Brooke & Jubal rank fifteenth. Chris Huff says “Largest share ever recorded” for easy oldies WRME, the low power Channel 6 TV LMA’d by Weigel (2.4-1.6-2.6). Chicago Public Media’s not-for-profit news/talk WBEZ is up (2.2-2.0-2.5).
