This is sad news. From today's RAMP newsletter...
11-time Grammy winner Linda Ronstadt revealed that she is suffering from Parkinson's disease and is no longer able to sing. In an interview that will appear on AARP.org this week, Ronstadt, now 67, said she "can't sing a note" because of the effects of the Parkinson's. She says she was officially diagnosed eight months ago, but she began to exhibit the symptoms as long as eight years ago... Ronstadt now walks with the aid of poles when she's on uneven ground, and has to use a wheelchair when she travels. "No one can sing with Parkinson's disease," Ronstadt said. "No matter how hard you try." Her forthcoming memoir, Simple Dreams, will be released on September 17 but it does not address her diagnosis, or the loss of her voice.
