The Cubs have been surging lately, but it was clear they needed two things: A little help in the bullpen and a backup catcher.
Theo & Jed went out and got that. They traded for Tigers closer Justin Wilson and Tigers catcher Alex Avila. And they did it without losing a single player from their big league roster. (The best player going to the Tigers is Jeimer Candelario, a 3B who will be blocked at that position by Kris Bryant)
What I think is funny about the Avila aquisition is that he was traded to the Cubs by his own father, the GM of the Tigers.
