John Oliver Gets His Own Show on HBO

The most popular correspondent on "The Daily Show", and the man who filled in for Jon Stewart this past summer while Stewart was away, is getting his own show. John Oliver will be hosting a weekly comedy show on HBO.

I think Variety is asking the right question today. Is the Daily Show now a bigger launching pad for a career in comedy than SNL? The list of people who have started out on The Daily Show is pretty long and impressive.
